Does Hypnosis Work?
Two things are important when evaluating the effectiveness of hypnosis:
- Your expectation
- The skill level of the Hypnotherapist
.
Pharmacology is an extremely lucrative industry. Over the last century, it has completely overwhelmed the medical profession, to the point where even common sense is often set aside in favour of medication. The approved treatment of cancer, for example, actually causes cancer.
The field of Psychology is equally dominated by pills, which are dispensed in most cases without any regard for the healing process of an individual, and if they work, at best they do little more than hide the symptoms.
There is very little common knowledge about hypnosis, because it is not part of the main stream curriculum of medicine or psychology. However, like so many modalities sidelined by corporate medicine, Hypnotherapy remains an extremely effective method of personal transformation and emotional healing.

Your Expectation
Most people have expectations of magic, being a puppet on a string, swirling lights, turning into a chicken, or losing their minds. The reality is: hypnosis is the same state as meditation. The electroencephalogram (EEG) measures brain activity, and has been used in countless scientific tests and studies, observing brain activity in hypnosis.
.
.
Despite the implication, slow brain activity is not a sign of slow intelligence, but of relaxation. The slower your brain rate, the more relaxed you are. Hypnosis is most commonly observed between 4 and 10 Hz, ranging from Theta state, when the subject is very deep, to Alpha, a state of higher activity also associated with dreaming.
Reality in Hypnosis:
- You can hear sounds around you
- You can hear the Hypnotherapist's voice
- You can not be hypnotised to do anything which is against your nature
- You can feel deeply relaxed and calm
- You can find it easier than usual to let go of your thoughts and just be
- If you go to a properly qualified Hypnotherapist, you can not become stuck in hypnosis
.

The skill level of the Hypnotherapist
Your Hypnotherapist should have the skill to hypnotise you, even if you find it difficult to let go in the beginning. The way you go into hypnosis is exclusive to you, and everyone goes in differently. Some people take 30 minutes to be hypnotised, others are deep in hypnosis within a few seconds. It's up to your Hypnotherapist to find your way into this state, and guide you to go deeper.
A sure way of knowing how deep you are, is your rapid eye movement (REM). A skilled Hypnotherapist can see how deep you are by the way your eyes move under your lids.
Why Hypnotherapy?
- Unprocessed problems, create
- subconscious defence mechanisms, which become
- negative beliefs about your self, and that leads to
- self-sabotaging behaviour and more problems.
- Hypnotherapy processes the problem, by
- training you to think and act positively and constructively, and
- re-enforcing your positive belief in yourself, and that leads to
- successful behaviour, self confidence, and happiness.
