Having an affirmation is great - if you use it every day. Do you sit and close your eyes and spend 10 minutes visualising, working on The New You every day?

.
What would you do if you were offered a business opportunity with a Chinese company, and you knew it would be a great advantage if you spoke enough Mandarin for greetings and small talk?
  • First prize would be a teacher, close second, and you would probably do them both, would be a CD
  • Listening to the language over and over, it becomes familiar to you
  • Speaking the language every day, you would never forget it
.
Your brain needs to repeat a new circuit for it to become a habit. When you teach yourself to be more calm, or more motivated, it's just like learning a new language - and you can do this by listening to your affirmation from your phone.

Hypnosis and Effective Affirmations

Hypnosis allows information to bypass the firewall of your critical thinking, and become accepted by your subconscious mind. In most cases, hypnosis is necessary, because your subconscious is very protective over your belief systems. For a belief to change, neuro-plasticity requires the formation of a new circuit, which can only happen with the acceptance of the subconscious defences. If the new belief is perceived in any way to be a threat to your existing belief systems, your mind will defend itself, and reject the new belief, even if it was highly beneficial, or enabled your survival.
.
The easiest way to achieve hypnosis is to be hypnotised by a professional Hypnotherapist. Self hypnosis is equally effective, but takes some practice. There are also some tools one can use to deepen hypnosis, and to stabilize the state.

Hypnotherapy Durban - Does Hypnosis Work?

.
.

Andrew Wilding is an HMI trained Hypnotherapist in Durban. During hypnosis, he uses an Isochronic soundtrack with Binaural Beats, and provides free support PDFs and audio hypnosis downloads for all his clients.

Does Hypnosis Work?

Two things are important when evaluating the effectiveness of hypnosis:
  1. Your expectation
  2. The skill level of the Hypnotherapist
.
Pharmacology is an extremely lucrative industry. Over the last century, it has completely overwhelmed the medical profession, to the point where even common sense is often set aside in favour of medication. The approved treatment of cancer, for example, actually causes cancer.

The field of Psychology is equally dominated by pills, which are dispensed in most cases without any regard for the healing process of an individual, and if they work, at best they do little more than hide the symptoms.

There is very little common knowledge about hypnosis, because it is not part of the main stream curriculum of medicine or psychology. However, like so many modalities sidelined by corporate medicine, Hypnotherapy remains an extremely effective method of personal transformation and emotional healing.

Your Expectation

Most people have expectations of magic, being a puppet on a string, swirling lights, turning into a chicken, or losing their minds. The reality is: hypnosis is the same state as meditation. The electroencephalogram (EEG) measures brain activity, and has been used in countless scientific tests and studies, observing brain activity in hypnosis.
.
Brain States of Frequency-Following Responses, entrainment
.
Despite the implication, slow brain activity is not a sign of slow intelligence, but of relaxation. The slower your brain rate, the more relaxed you are. Hypnosis is most commonly observed between 4 and 10 Hz, ranging from Theta state, when the subject is very deep, to Alpha, a state of higher activity also associated with dreaming.

Reality in Hypnosis:
  • You can hear sounds around you
  • You can hear the Hypnotherapist's voice
  • You can not be hypnotised to do anything which is against your nature
  • You can feel deeply relaxed and calm
  • You can find it easier than usual to let go of your thoughts and just be
  • If you go to a properly qualified Hypnotherapist, you can not become stuck in hypnosis
 .
.

The skill level of the Hypnotherapist

Your Hypnotherapist should have the skill to hypnotise you, even if you find it difficult to let go in the beginning. The way you go into hypnosis is exclusive to you, and everyone goes in differently. Some people take 30 minutes to be hypnotised, others are deep in hypnosis within a few seconds. It's up to your Hypnotherapist to find your way into this state, and guide you to go deeper.

A sure way of knowing how deep you are, is your rapid eye movement (REM). A skilled Hypnotherapist can see how deep you are by the way your eyes move under your lids.

Why Hypnotherapy?

  • Unprocessed problems, create
  • subconscious defence mechanisms, which become
  • negative beliefs about your self, and that leads to
  • self-sabotaging behaviour and more problems.
  • Hypnotherapy processes the problem, by
  • training you to think and act positively and constructively, and
  • re-enforcing your positive belief in yourself, and that leads to
  • successful behaviour, self confidence, and happiness.
